North Taproom needed robust, easy-to-clean seating that matched the brand palette and maximised covers across indoor and terrace zones. Furniture had to tolerate heavy use and regular cleaning, while installation had to align with the opening date without disrupting adjacent trades. RED turned the concept into technical packs and cutting lists, then manufactured under one roof for schedule control and consistent quality.

The brief

The brief was practical from the start. Seating had to work hard across indoor and outdoor areas, stay easy to clean and hold up to daily hospitality use. It also needed to keep a consistent look across the venue while supporting the layout needed for covers.

Programme certainty mattered as well. Installation had to align with the opening date and fit around adjacent trades, with a tidy, documented handover at the end.

Our approach

We translated the concept into technical packs and cutting lists, then manufactured under one roof for clearer control through production. Steel frames were engineered with jigging for accuracy and repeatability, helping keep the seating consistent across the scheme.

Timbers and tops were selected for wipe-clean performance and lifecycle value. Frames were colour-matched to the brand palette and powder-coated in-house for durability. Where practical, table frames were pre-assembled and tops were batched to reduce fitting time once on site.

Outdoor bench sets were finished with weather-appropriate coatings, and feet were detailed for drainage and paving falls. That made the terrace seating better suited to external conditions without losing consistency with the rest of the scheme.

Materials and build details

The project combines steel frames with wipe-clean timber tops, chosen for durability, cleaning performance and service life. Powder coating was handled in-house to achieve the required brand colour match and provide a more durable finish in use.

Construction was designed to be repairable, with replaceable parts to extend service life. Maintenance guidance supports cleaning regimes, and like-for-like spares are available to help protect lifecycle value over time.

Installation and logistics

RAMS and site packs were issued before installation, and access sequencing was agreed with the main fit-out team to avoid clashes around the bar fit. Pre-assembly helped reduce fitting time where practical and kept the site phase more efficient.

Packaging was minimised, and waste was separated and removed from site daily. That supported a tidier installation process and a cleaner handover.

Results and lifecycle value

The finished seating gives North Taproom a consistent scheme across indoor and terrace zones, built for heavy use and regular cleaning. The clearest outcomes are durability, easier upkeep, brand consistency and programme alignment around the venue opening.

The lifecycle story is also clear. Repairable construction, replaceable parts and like-for-like spares make it easier to maintain the furniture over time rather than replace complete units unnecessarily. The seating is also designed for straightforward disassembly at end-of-life to aid recycling.
