This training centre needed a practical interior that could handle regular use, stay easy to clean and adapt to different layouts. RED translated the concept into buildable technical packs, then manufactured under one roof for better schedule control. Components were labelled by room and position to reduce site handling and keep installation clearer.
The brief
The scheme needed to support day-to-day training use without adding maintenance issues. It also had to balance visual warmth with practical performance across seating, feature elements and the reception point.
Material consistency was important. Birch ply, black satin finishes and simple, robust detailing were used throughout to keep the spaces cohesive and easy to maintain.
Our approach
We turned the concept into technical packs, then manufactured the scheme under one roof for clearer control through production. Components were labelled by room and position before delivery, helping reduce unnecessary handling on site.
The build is centred on clear-lacquered birch ply, used for carcasses, benches and trims. Edges were left exposed, then sealed for durability and easier cleaning. Selected faces and junction pieces were finished in black satin for contrast. Steel frames, protection angles and brackets were also finished in black satin for durability and consistency.
The feature wall uses slatted surrounds to frame an artificial moss insert. This adds colour and helps soften sound without the maintenance demands of live planting.
Materials and build details
Tiered auditorium seating was designed as a modular, serviceable system. Each module has a removable birch ply top, clear lacquered for access and wipe-down, with upholstered seat pads that can also be removed. Geometry was kept simple and robust so pads align cleanly and surfaces stay tidy.
A movable birch-ply table on braked castors supports quick layout changes and can be parked neatly when floors need to be cleared. The reception counter follows the same material language, with a birch-ply carcass, black satin work surface, concealed cable routes and practical storage.
Installation and logistics
Installation planning was supported by room- and position-labelled components, helping keep the sequence clear and reducing site handling. The page does not currently give the programme window, RAMS timing or phased delivery detail, so those should be added if available.
Results and lifecycle value
The finished scheme delivers a training space that is durable, serviceable and easier to maintain. The seating system supports regular use while still allowing access, wipe-down and part replacement where needed.
The lifecycle story is one of repair over replacement. Tops, fascias and pads are fixed in a way that makes them easier to swap out, while runners, castors and power modules can be replaced independently. End-of-life disassembly is also straightforward, with timber, boards, steel and upholstery separating at the fixings.
